HD 98 candidate says Texas jobs should go to legal Texas workers
(Keller, TX) – Keller Mayor and Texas House District 98 candidate Armin Mizani today reaffirmed his commitment to protecting Texas jobs and ensuring a level playing field for law-abiding employers by rewarding the use of E-Verify in city contracting.
“As Texans, we value hard work, honesty, and the rule of law,” Mizani said. “When taxpayer money is used for public projects, every single dollar should go to companies that play by the rules and hire legal American workers. With that in mind, the Keller City Council will soon begin discussions on ways to encourage all contractors and subcontractors bidding on city projects to use the federal E-Verify system.”
Mizani has long been a champion on issues of government accountability and border security. As mayor, he’s become known for his strong conservative governance and fiscal discipline. Now, he says, it’s time for cities across the state to lead the way in safeguarding jobs and ensuring fairness in the marketplace.
The E-Verify system, operated by the Department of Homeland Security, allows employers to quickly verify the legal status of new hires. Mizani said he believes cities like Keller should be guided by the belief that those who do business with our cities should share the same values of legality, integrity, and accountability to the taxpayers who make our communities thrive.
“Encouraging the use of E-Verify is a common-sense, Texas-first step that protects local jobs, upholds our nation’s laws, and ensures fair competition for businesses that play by the rules,” Mizani concluded. “In that spirit, I look forward to the discussions ahead in support of lawful employment, honest businesses, and hard-working Texans.”
