KELLER CITY COUNCIL PASSES RESOLUTION INCENTIVIZING USE OF E-VERIFY

Mayor Armin Mizani Praises Action as “A Win for Taxpayers, Accountability, and Texas Workers”

(Keller, TX) – Shortly after Mayor Armin Mizani announced efforts to strengthen accountability in public contracting, the Keller City Council has officially passed a resolution giving preference to all contractors and subcontractors bidding on city projects who use the federal E-Verify system. The action reinforces Keller’s commitment to protecting Texas jobs, supporting law-abiding businesses, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.

Texas House District 98 candidate and Keller Mayor Armin Mizani applauded the Council’s vote, saying:

“I said Keller would lead in this effort, and at Tuesday’s Council meeting we proved it. Our taxpayers deserve to know that when the city spends their money, it’s going to businesses that follow the law and hire legal American workers. This resolution sends a clear message: Keller stands with honest employers, hardworking Texans, and the rule of law.”

The resolution will change Keller’s scoring criteria to give additional points to contractors, vendors, and subcontractors seeking city business who are able to verify they are hiring legally. Businesses will be given a competitive edge for participating in the Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify program, a long-standing federal tool that allows employers to confirm the legal work eligibility of new hires.

As mayor, Mizani has built a record of conservative governance, tax relief, and strong public safety leadership. He says this latest step demonstrates how local communities can meaningfully support Texas workers and uphold the laws that protect them.

“Keller didn’t wait for Washington or Austin to act,” Mizani said. “We took the initiative to strengthen trust, improve transparency, and ensure every taxpayer dollar supports businesses playing by the rules. Other cities should follow our lead.”
